Membership Requirements

Laboratory Technician Member:  Member designation is reserved for the technicians who meet the following requirements

Technicians who have completed a minimum of one course at The Dawson Academy.

Laboratory Technician Scholar:  Scholar designation is reserved for the technicians who meet the following requirements

Technicians who have completed the laboratory technician core curriculum of The Dawson Academy, which consists of Seminar 1: Functional Occlusion – From TMJ to Smile Design OR Occlusion & Function for Lab Technicians, Seminar 2: Achieving Predictable Esthetic Results, and Seminar 3: Advanced Problem Solving.

Accredited Laboratory:  The Accredited Laboratory designation is reserved for those laboratories meeting the following requirements.

Accreditation status can be earned in up to seven specialties, including:  model & die, crown & bridge, ceramics, implants, removable, diagnostic waxing, and CAD/CAM technology.

In order to become designated as an accredited laboratory, a lab must have at least one board certified technician (CDT) who is actively maintaining The Dawson Academy Master Technician (THDMT) status working in the designated specialty.

In each area of specialty, the Lab must present at least two documented cases, which were completed for a Dawson Academy Faculty Member. The cases will be reviewed and evaluated by the DALA Board.

In order to maintain accredited status, the laboratory must submit two evaluations of work in the designated specialty from a Dawson Academy Faculty member and at least one technician in each designated specialty must have attended a minimum of one Dawson Academy course.
