Dr. Brandon Hissong

Dr. Brandon Hissong graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 2000. He practiced as an associate dentist at Mid-Illinois Dental Associates in Taylorville, IL before moving to Piatt County. In 2007, Dr. Hissong opened his dental practice in Monticello based on his vision of complete dental care. His philosophy is that improving the health of one’s mouth can improve one’s overall health and ultimately improve one’s quality of life. He recognizes that every patient is different with unique needs and circumstances, and the dental care he provides is tailored specifically to each patient. Dr. Hissong has a reputation of being caring, compassionate, and exceptionally gentle.

How Study Clubs Work

Who can join?

The members can be general dentists, specialists, dental lab technicians and dental consultants. It is recommended that members have at least completed ‘Functional Occlusion – From TMJ to Smile Design’ either online or in class before the club year is over.

How many times do study clubs meet and for how long?

The number of times and how long a Study Club meets varies based on what the leader decides is best for their club. There are 3 options for the frequency and length of meetings:

4 times per year for ~6 hrs
6 times per year for ~4 hrs
12 times per year for ~2 hrs

Study Club Leaders may opt to extend the hours of each meeting to provide time for members to bring and discuss cases

Do I receive any CE credits from meetings?

Yes. You receive between 2-6 hours of CE per meeting attended.

What happens at meetings?

Meetings combine structured training with open discussion. Each meeting will include one or more of the following: lecture, case presentation and hands-on exercises. Some study clubs may opt to have guest speakers at meetings. Participants are encouraged to share their own cases.

What topics are covered during meetings?

Meeting topics will vary per club. Study Club Leaders pick from a library of club meeting content. The following are a few examples of study club meeting topics found in the Study Club Library:

Cases for treatment planning
Implants
Airway and sleep disordered breathing
Practice management and marketing

How much is it to join?

The yearly Study Club fee is $2,500. You can split the fee up into 4 payments. Our only requirement is that it is paid in full prior to the final meeting. To join, call The Dawson Academy at 1-800-952-2178 or fill out the form here.
