Case Acceptance of Complex Care without Losing Patients from Sticker Shock

This program will discuss the three essential concepts every dentist needs to provide Dawson-style dentistry:

Readiness: Discover the scope of care patients are ready for

Influence: Know WHY patients want dental care and want it from you

Advocacy: Prevent patients leaving your practice from sticker shock.

These three concepts come from 20+ years of coaching hundreds of dentists improve their case acceptance for complete dentistry. These concepts help guide patients into accepting your care, inspire positive online reviews, and dramatically minimize stress for you and patients.

Dr. Paul Homoly, CSP, is a visiting faculty member of The Dawson Academy. As a comprehensive, restorative dentist and acclaimed educator for over thirty years, he is known for his innovative and practical approach to dentistry. Paul is president of Homoly Communications Institute, a resource for personal, professional, and practice-building skills. Paul expanded his work as a consultant and trainer, and since 1986 he has coached dentists, team members, dental laboratory technicians and key opinion leaders.

Dr. Kile’s Presentation

Quarterbacking Full Mouth Implant Solutions

For patients who are edentulous or have a terminal dentition, we have the ability using modern implant dentistry to either support or retain prostheses, thereby restoring esthetics and function. To succeed in these complex cases, treatment planning must be prosthetically led and take many factors into consideration. This course will walk through restorative options for different circumstances and how we can ensure optimal results through a team approach with your surgeons and laboratories.

Learning Objectives:

  • Step-by-step approach to planning full arch implant solutions and factors to consider when deciding whether a fixed or removable prosthesis is best
  • How-to communicate a prosthetically driven result for implant placement via guided surgery with our surgeons and laboratories

Dr. Jessica Kile is a Dawson Scholar and an active Study Club member in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Kile has been practicing cosmetic & restorative dentistry in Champaign County since 2012.

Dr. Sisler’s Presentation

Building Your Brand

When people say your name what do you want them to think? Whether you’re a large global corporation like Apple or a small dental practice in the middle of nowhere, branding is essential to establishing a name for yourself. But for most dentists the big question is…where do I start? This presentation will cover 4 practical steps to building your brand and developing your reputation as the ‘go-to practice’ in your area for esthetic dentistry.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define your vision and your audience
  • Utilize dental photography to build a customized portfolio
  • Untangle the web of social media for dental marketing

Dr. Zachary Sisler is an Associate Faculty member and Administrative Director of Dawson Study Clubs. Dr. Sisler owns and operates his practice in Shippensburg, PA. He has spoken across the United States about esthetics, photography, practice management and occlusion.

Dr. Springer’s Presentation

The Science of Color and Light-The Key to Esthetic Dentistry

Approximately 50% of laboratory remakes of restorations in the esthetic zone result from the failure to achieve an adequate shade match. A thorough understanding of color and light is essential for the clinician as well as the ceramist in order to effectively communicate a proper shade match. This presentation will review the elements that effect color and shade selection, as well as new techniques to achieve better results with your ceramics.

Learning Objectives:

  • How light is the key to understanding basic color theory
  • Understand how light interaction with the histology of tooth structure differs from the light interaction with today’s composites
    or ceramics
  • Discover new techniques for shade selection using photography and modern technology

Dr. Ryan Springer is the two-time Study Club Challenge winner and an active Study Club member. He owns and operates his practice with a focus on cosmetics, implants and complex dentistry.
