This course will provide a detailed overview of how to plan your case to place the implants and design a well-fitting removable partial denture that actually strengthens the teeth as the teeth support the partial.

During this course we will:

  • Explain the biological, functional, and restorative parameters needed for successful implant placement.
  • Demonstrate examples of grafting and site development techniques to help build a better prosthetically driven bone and soft tissue foundation for implant placement.
  • Identify the three key components of removable partial denture RPD and how to sequence the treatment

About the course

Thinking of placing or restoring implants? This course will provide a detailed overview on how to do so from planning your case to placing the implants to the final restorations. It will be looking at placing implants in single sites to more challenging cases involving multiple implant restorations and grafting to help build a better foundation. There will be a specific focus on both biological and functional techniques to consider along with a look at failures and ways to avoid them.

Participants will learn how important it is to be able to design a well-fitting removable partial denture that actually strengthens the teeth as the teeth support the partial. Using the Dawson concepts and principles of Complete Dentistry, the three key components that must be understood will be presented. A treatment sequence for efficiency and predictability will be shown with several applicable cases.

Learning Objectives:

  • Begin with the End in Mind — Explain the biological, functional and restorative parameters needed for successful implant placement.
  • A Strong Foundation — Give examples of grafting and site development techniques to help build a better prosthetically driven bone and soft tissue foundation for implant placement.
  • To Guide or not to Guide – Compare the advantages and disadvantages for both ways of implant placement.
  • The Immediate Hype – Review the research on the success of immediate implant placement along with specific clinical case examples.
  • Starting your Implant Journey – Discuss recommendations for developing an implant surgical practice and things to avoid when doing so.
  • Identify the three key components of removable partial denture (RPD) design
    • Design various RDP’s
    • Sequence the steps to completing a RPD
    • Discover how RPD’s fit into the Dawson Complete Dentistry concept
