This 3-hour webinar is designed for dentists with advanced occlusal training who are looking to deepen their diagnostic and clinical application of Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) care. By focusing on comprehensive evaluation techniques, imaging interpretation, patient communication, and treatment integration, this session empowers restorative dentists to confidently implement TMD services within their practices.
Hour 1: Identify and perform key components of a focused TMD examination, including CR load testing, Doppler auscultation, and muscle palpation. Recognize early signs of joint dysfunction that are often missed during restorative evaluations. Justify the use of CBCT imaging in the diagnosis of TMD-related joint and skeletal pathologies.
Hour 2: Interpret CBCT images to distinguish between disc displacement, degenerative joint disease, and condylar malposition. Categorize TMD cases based on primary form (muscle, joint, disc, degenerative) to guide appliance therapy selection. Develop phased treatment plans for TMD that align with patient symptoms, functional goals, and long-term occlusal health.
Hour 3: Effectively communicate TMD diagnoses and treatment options to patients to build trust and improve treatment acceptance. Apply workflow strategies that integrate TMD screening and treatment into routine restorative care. Evaluate basic and complex clinical cases using a structured approach to diagnosis, planning, appliance therapy, and interdisciplinary support.
