When we are restoring patients with complete dentures, and they come in with, sometimes, a bag of many sets of dentures that have not been functional, we often wonder why would our set be any different.

And so a good predictor of denture retention is when you’re taking the final impression in a custom tray, and you’re using a border molded technique, if your impression has good retention and you have a hard time getting that denture impression out, there’s a very good chance – and you can even encourage the patient – that the success of getting their new set of dentures is going to be very high.
