Dawson Quick Tip: Using Teflon Tape Instead of Cotton Pellet

About a year ago I started using plumber’s tape (teflon tape) in any access that I wanted to be able to retrieve.

For example, I called the endodontist that I use, and I asked them when they leave an access and seal it after doing a root canal to use plumber’s tape instead of a cotton pellet that I got to go in there and try to get out.

For implant cases, where I want to possibly retrieve that, maybe I’m trying it in for a month or two, I’m going to come back re-tighten the screws. Or even if I’m sealing it with composite, an access hole, I put plumber’s tape in there rather than any other material.

It’s easy to access, it seals real well, and it’s just been a great change that I made about a year ago.

Don’t forget to communicate that to your endodontist, so that they utilize it also.
