Using the ‘Easy-Extender’

Here’s a quick tip on something I’ve been using recently and that’s called the Easy-Extender and it’s for open tray implant impressions. So often, when you put the impression on and you’re trying to find that screw head to unscrew the impression coping to get the impression out, this solves that problem.

What is it?

It’s a soft pliable material that does not bond to impression material at all. So once you cut your hole in the tray, it will fit over any screw head. So you position the Easy-Extender first. Then, you go ahead and fit it on the screw head and it can also be trimmed down to any height. So especially if you are working in the back and there is not a lot of room, you can trim it down to any height that you need, so that it shows through the impression. It’s really worked well for me.

How do you use it?

You cut a hole in the impression tray and it actually makes it easier to position the impression tray once you have impression material on it because it’s visible and it’s sticking up and you can find that very easily. Once the material sets, then you go ahead and take it out, it comes out easily. You can see how clean it is and how easy it is to access the screw head for removal of that impression coping with removal of your impression.

Where can I buy it?

It’s called the Easy Extender, it’s super easy to use and you can get it from Practicon Dental. The item number is #7141510 and they come in a 36-pack for $29.99.
