Why Anterior Deprogrammers Should Be Used In Every Practice

Anterior deprogrammers have gotten more and more popular over the years. There’s many styles and variations.

They all have one thing in common.

By clearing the dance floor, getting the back teeth out of the way, they allow the lateral pterygoid muscle to relax, thus allowing the elevator muscles to seat the condyle in the socket. Thus, it helps us to get to CR a little bit faster.

They are considered a therapeutic and diagnostic tool.

However, if somebody is off on the medial pull with anteriorly displaced discs, then seating the condyle can then pinch upon retrodiscal tissue causing pain and discomfort. So an anterior deprogrammer can help us as a therapeutic tool but it can also help us as a diagnostic tool.
