A trial equilibration is an absolute mandatory exercise to be done on properly mounted study models.
The reason for this is that we need to find out exactly where any reduction or any additive is going to be done to properly equilibrate the mouth to get to a proper occlusion. That trial equilibration has to occur on those study models before we touch any teeth whatsoever. And then that way we can make sure that we can do the least amount of dentistry possible to achieve our occlusal goals, which is means:
So doing the trial equilibration allows us to do that without making any mistakes and make sure that if it’s a reductive equilibration or added equilibration, we can find that out on the study models going through our 10-step checklist.
