Course Description

The first tooth-colored restorations were developed and placed in the mid ’50s, and by the late ’60s, composite resins were introduced. Over 60 years later, the first cause of restorative failure is the same–secondary caries.

During this dental CE live stream course, we will review what we know about caries, adhesive dentistry, and composite materials to achieve predictable, long-lasting restorations that can be maintained for years to come. By the end of this course, you will have a clear understanding of the caries process, its diagnosis, detection, management, and excavation endpoints. This will be related to current materials and techniques for adhesive dentistry and composite materials. In the end, tips and tricks will also be shared for facilitating implementation in your practice.

About Dr. Robles

Augusto Robles DDS

Augusto Robles, DDS is a visiting instructor and Scholar of The Dawson Academy. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Sciences and Director of Operative Dentistry at the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Dentistry. He completed his certificate and MS in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Michigan in 2006 and 2007 respectively. He was in Private Practice in Lima, Peru from 1992-2003. He was honored with the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society award in 2012. He is a member of the American Dental Education Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Alabama Dental Association, and Birmingham District Dental Society. In addition, he is also a member of the American Academy of Dental Research and the University liaison for the University Relations Committee of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
